Ginger turmeric shots

I find when spring hits I crave juices. The freshness they can bring, the amount you can get into one cup. I'm no scientist but I am aware that when we just things it takes out more of the nourishment as we're not eating the whole fruit. We need that fibre! So I just make sure it's not the first thing that goes into my body and I'm balancing it with other fibre foods too. This shot, is a good hit with the ginger and a fresh hit with lemon, sweetening with some apple. I'm picky about apples, as I've been grateful to eat ones straight from the tree. I find shop brought ones quite tasteless and who knows what they're sprayed with, so I always go organic or locally grown. It's a minefield but we can only do our best.

This recipe makes roughly a litre

Notes: It's all about how you like it, but remember you can't remove anything. Try it and add more of what you like. I tend to always add more ginger because I love the kick.

Ingredients

4 apples

2 lemons, peeled

2 oranges, peeled

A large chunk of ginger (some people do thumbs so at least 2 of those)

3 fingers of fresh turmeric

Sprinkle of cayenne pepper for the top

Method

  • Chop anything that needs to be chopped to fit into your juicer

  • Juice everything

  • Taste, add more of anything if needed

  • Pour and sprinkle some cayenne on top (there's science behind this and it helping the absortion of the turmeric, so you gain the benefits)

  • Enjoy, best served fresh. Would probably freeze ok and make great ice lollies for summer.
