A little about me and why I'm doing this

Sometimes I feel like there is so much going on in my head, I find it hard to focus on anything. I am that type of person that can either be brilliant and get loads of things done or be in complete overwhelm and achieve nothing and just survive.

I have spent my working career mainly in the outdoors and mainly with young people. My path was not clear and I followed a bit of what I wanted to do with a bit of how can I earn some money to live off. So I am now a classic jack of all trades, master of none. I knew that the outdoors was my happy place and learnt the hard way that a job sat a computer for 5 days a week did not suit me. I took the step to become self employed and tried to find more fulfilling work that aligns with what I'm really passionate about.

Shouldn't life be about finding our passions and knowing how to surround ourselves with those that can support us to achieve great things? Don't get me wrong, I'm fully aware life is a rollercoaster and we can't hide from those things that can get us down and throw curve balls. But I fully believe that if we put things in place to look after ourselves and others around us, it makes those times a lot easier and we can work through it to come out stronger.

In my life I have formulated the big 5. 5 things that if one of them is out, things normally start deteriorating and I have to check myself. My big 5 are Sleep, Hydration, Food, Exercise and Mindfulness. If I get to the point of being down, having low self doubt, what's that thing people are calling it, imposter syndrome, when we think we're not good enough, feeling fat, you get where I'm going. I stop and ask myself, am I'm getting enough of the big 5. It probably doesn't take a rocket scientest to work out that most of the time the answer is no and I have to shift things. I start each day with warm water, celtic salt and lemon juice. It's now a habit I am grateful for. I am amazed how little people drink and feel like I can sometimes see when they are dehydrated, knowing that if they made a simple change, it could make a big difference. It helps me concentrate, recover, energise, stay well, sleep better. I mean we're made out of salty water, so it makes sense to me to replenish it regularly.

I am now at the point where I want to share my stories, take people on hikes and cook people amazing food. Talk about all those things that ignite passion and help us learn and grow. I don't want to hide from the difficult conversations. I love asking questions and finding out what really drives people. I'm also ones of those individuals who doesn't like small talk. I can go deep quick. Psychology is a hobby and I read a lot on different subjects. I also like a good quote, so I shall leave you with one. Make sure your life is full of, I can't believe I did this" instead of I should have done that".

Thanks Helena….for making me think 🤔 I’m running on 3 out of 5. So I’ll try some salty lemon water and more sleep and let you know!
